Care Home Conversion into 10 Flats

This project involved the conversion of an existing care home into 10 self-contained flats, making better use of a large building that was no longer suited to its previous use.

The proposal reorganised the internal layout to create a mix of one, two, and three-bedroom flats across the ground and first floors, while retaining the main structure and character of the existing building. Each unit was planned with its own living space, kitchen, bedroom accommodation, and bathroom facilities.

The design focused on making the existing floorplate work efficiently, using the building’s generous scale to provide independent homes while keeping changes to the external appearance minimal. The result is a practical residential conversion that brings a former care home back into active use.
